Public health nursing involves a community and the overall health of the community. Commu-

nity health is defined as a focus on a specific geographic region. Specific epidemiological data

can be obtained and an accurate community report can be established (Harkness & DeMarco,

2012). Community health is also collective needs being met, this is done by identifying prob-

lems and managing them along with behaviors in the community (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2012).

The first step in doing gathering such data would be to perform a windshield survey, which is a

thorough assessment of the community, to therefore have a better understanding of the commu-

nity and its population (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2012).
